Bugmageddon is journalistic shorthand for the feared point at which automated vulnerability discovery outruns the capacity to patch exposed systems.

The word is vivid and analytically weak. Its -mageddon suffix supplies catastrophe before the argument has established a mechanism. It does not tell us whether models favour attackers or defenders, whether discoveries become working exploits, or whether patches can be deployed in time.

Keep the word for recognition, then translate it into terms that can carry an argument: Discovery-Patch Race, Patch Gap, Window of Exposure, and Offense-Defense Balance.

The skeptical definition is the useful one. Bugmageddon names the mood. The neighboring entries explain the system.

Usage note
