Dwarkesh Patel is an interviewer and writer whose long-form technical conversations have become primary-source infrastructure for the AI field.

His importance is not simply access to prominent guests. The interviews are unusually long, technically prepared, and willing to remain with a disagreement after the polished answer has been given. AI executives, researchers, semiconductor analysts, economists, and policymakers are asked to show the machinery underneath their forecasts.

For this Dictionary, Patel is less a pundit than a source environment. Conversations with Dario Amodei supplied Big Blob of Compute and Country of Geniuses in a Data Center. Interviews with Dylan Patel made the physical compute stack legible. The Elon Musk and Patrick Collison conversation exposed the tension inside the modern word lab. The Ryan Greenblatt interview sharpened the governance problem around AI systems improving AI research.

The useful caution is the same one that applies to any gifted interviewer: a long conversation is evidence of what an important person believes, not proof that the belief is true. The format improves the evidence. It does not remove the need to judge it.
